UCF Intramural Sports

Greek Sports Points Program
Rules

I.      Purpose

The purpose of the IFC/Pan-Hellenic Sports Program is to determine an overall intramural sports champion for the year.
A trophy will be awarded at the end of each year that will be returned before the end of the next season.  The
Organization’s banner will also be posted on the RWC Wall of Fame.

II.     Divisions

A.    Fraternity Divisions

Because of the number of organizations, the Fraternity competition will compete in three separate divisions during any
seasonal sport.  The Gold Division will consist of the top six (6) fraternities, the black division will consist of the next six
(6), and the White Division will consist of the rest of the fraternities.  Each season, in each sport, the winner of the
Black Division will have the opportunity to move up to the Gold Division the following year. The winner of the White
division will have the opportunity to move up the the Black Division. The 6th place team in the Gold Division will move
down to the Black Division for the following season. The 6th place team in the Black Division will move down to the
White Division for the following season. In the event that it is not clear which team should be in the Gold Division, the
following would be used for priority:

1.     Gold: places 1st - 5th

2.     Black:  places 7th  - 12th

3.     Other divisions (non-IFC participation the previous year)

4.     New Teams (by order of previous year overall point total)

5.    Gold: 6th place

A similar structure will be utilized for placement into the Black League from the White league. In the event of a
tie with no head-to-head result, the previous year’s standings will determine placing.

NOTE:  Concerning the All-University Tournaments, the Gold Division teams will be placed in the Comp or Comp A
league tournament, and the Black/White Division teams will be placed in the Comp B (or Rec tournament if no Comp B
is offered).  Written requests must be submitted to change tournament status.

B.    Sorority Divisions

Sororities will follow a similar structure for Division I sports. The above rules will be consistent, with the only difference
being that there will be five (5) teams in the Gold Division and the remaining teams will be in the Black Division. The 5th
place team in the Gold Division will move to Black and the 1st place team in the Black Division will move to Gold in
subsequent seasons.

III.    Points

A.    Sports

Points will be awarded based on final regular season standings.  The Gold Division will be placed 1st through 6th
and the Black Division will be placed 7th through 12th (For Panhellanic it shall be 1st through 5th and 6th through
remaining # of teams) The White Division will be 13th through last.  The formula for points is as follows:

(# of eligible organizations + 1 - place of finish) x (weight of sport)

Note: Number of eligible organizations will be the maximum number of teams that participate in the initial sports considered
for greek points (Soccer and Volleyball)  at the start of the calendar year in the Spring Semester. If an organization drops
out during the year, it does not affect the possible total number of points earned per sport for each team. If an organization
is added during the program (after the first sports of the spring semester), they may participate in the divisions but will not
earn points towards the current year’s standings.

In addition, an organization that goes undefeated (no losses or ties) in a Division I Gold Division sport, a bonus 10 points are
awarded (IFC only).  If there is a tie, points will be divided evenly among the tied teams.  A team that forfeits once during regular
season or post season for any reason listed in the IM Team Captain’s guide will lose 50% of the points earned for that sport.
A team that forfeits a second time loses all points earned for that sport.  Forfeits during individual events or one-day events will
result in loss of all points for that sport.

In addition, an organization that wins a championship in the Competitive (or Competitive A) division tournament will receive a
bonus 10 points (IFC only).

B.    Meetings

In addition to earning points in sports, each organization has the opportunity to earn twenty five (25) points each
month by attending a monthly meeting held by Intramural Sports for IFC/Panhellanic participants.
The meetings will be conducted to discuss intramural matters in order to keep all fraternities/sororities informed
of the program.  In September's meeting, motion for rule revisions will be put on the table for vote at October's
meeting.  50% + 1 in favor of the motion will pass the rule revision.  Meetings are held the first Thursday of each
month (unless otherwise notified) at 12:15 noon.  The meeting places will be determined at a later date.

C.    Other Provisions

A.    Games cancelled due to weather conditions, facilities, mutual agreement, or other reasons will not
be rescheduled. Standings will be based on the total number of games actually played.

B.    In the event that at the conclusion of the regular season, a tie exists in an outdoor sport (Flag
Football, Soccer, Softball, Baseball) for first place of the Gold or Black league, or a tie exists
between teams up for relegation to the lower league, and the existing head-to-head tiebreaker
procedures cannot be utilized due to a rain or lightning related weather cancellation between those
teams in a previously scheduled game, then Intramural Sports will re-schedule the game prior to
the end of the tournament at a day and time where available facilities can be found

C.    Interleague games in leagues with 6 weeks will be played in week 1.
